Before my current work, I was executive director of two nonprofit agencies which serve people living in poverty in Mingo County, West Virginia. Having lived in quite a few places, central Appalachia remains my favorite place on the planet. Now I live with my wife and our 7 kids (though two are now out of the house) in central Minnesota.
