Done! After three years of steady research and a year of writing — not full-time, mind you; I do have six kids at home and a full-time job to attend to — I have sent the manuscript of Faith Meets World: The Gift and Challenge of Catholic Social Teaching on its way to the fine folks at Liguori Publications!
I’m excited to have it out the door and very pleased with how it came out. I’ve worked hard to represent the Church’s social teachings faithfully, to include some contemporary theological reflection about it, and to do it in a way that’s clear and accessible, with plenty of real life illustrations and applications.
Now Liguori will do the voodoo they do, and, se Dio vuole, it will make its debut in the world sometime in the spring. No publication date yet. Next fun step for me will be getting to see the cover they’ve come up with.
For now, I’m looking forward to sleeping just a little later on weekday mornings, spending a little more liesure time on Saturday mornings with my wife and kids, and in the evenings, after they’re all in bed, reading something other than stuff on Catholic social teaching (cool as it is). But it’s back to the grindstone soon, because there’s another big writing project in the works! I’m looking forward to digging into that, too. More on it as I work out the details with the prospective publisher.
